The Intern Archive Update #37

YOU HAVE TO BE

WORRIED    OR    EXCITED

Trailer #1: Black Mass

Directed by Scott Cooper starring Johnny Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, and Kevin Bacon

Intern Review: The story of Whitey Bulger a Mafia guy and FBI informant that likes to fuck everyone. All of us got excited about this as it was one of the best trailers of the year. We also predicted an Oscar nomination for Depp which was the beginning of our failures to predict with Black Mass. The film was perfectly mediocre which is unfortunate due to the amount of interesting and what should have been alarming and entertaining moments of Bulger's life really turned out to be not so engaging. This part of history just didn't translate on camera.

Nathan excited
Daniel excited (but worried about Depp's eyes)
Morgan excited
The Intern super duper excited

Trailer #2: No Escape

Directed by John Erick Dowdle starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, Sterling Jerins, Claire Geare and Pierce Brosnan

Intern Review: A coup happens and all the white people are getting executed. Jack Dwyer (Wilson) and his family get caught up in this coup and start to run for their lives and seek sanctuary anywhere they can. I enjoyed this and throwing kids is something that I hope to do with the same intensity that it happens in this movie. I thought the acting was good from everyone even the kiddies in this one. I would recommend anyone check it out.

Nathan was Owen Wilson is 10 years out of Draction excited.
Daniel got more on board with this trailer excited
Morgan (biggest sigh ever) excited
The Intern was throwing kids off of buildings excited

Trailer #3: The Visit

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan starring Olivia DeJonge, Ed Oxenbould, Deanna Dunagan, Peter McRobbie and Kathryn Hahn

Intern Review: Full On Found Footage #FOFF. So......... there is a twist  (shocker) and I didn't even care when it happened (obviously). Hearing that there is three different versions of this I would have preferred the Horror or Comedy version instead of this middle ground option they went with. The ideas where there to play with a lot of different things that could have been great, too bad it didn't work out that way. Also found footage should be dead now (but it won't be). Sigh.
#FOFF

Trailer #4: Pawn Sacrifice

Directed by Edward Zwick starring Tobey Maguire, Liev Schreiber, Michael Stuhlbarg and Peter Sarsgaard

Intern Review: There is a documentary called Bobby Fisher Against the World and you get the same movie but with a larger impact better execution and more entertainment. Plus really people. So just watch the real Bobby Fisher go mad instead of a failed Spider-Man playing a failed Bobby Fisher do it.

Nathan check mate excited
Daniel sort of excited with the editing
Morgan excited
The Intern excited for crazy Bobby Fisher

Rotten Tomatoes 72% IMDb 7.0 Intern +1

Points Nathan 2 Daniel 2 Morgan 2 Intern 1

Trailer #5: Sicario

Directed by Denis Villeneuve starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin

Intern Review: The slow zoom master takes us on a draction to display the disruption of a drug cartel.  We get to go on a journey of a hitman seen through the eyes of a rule abiding FBI agent. The cinematography is engaging and sucks you in. The score pulses and gets the blood flowing. The Sicario is passionless and effective in delivery. Villeneuve proves that he is Canada's greatest director. Sicario is Intern Approved and wins the episode. Go watch it now really stop reading this and watch some Villeneuve magic.
