The Intern Archive Update #11

YOU HAVE TO BE

WORRIED    OR    EXCITED

Trailer #1: The Equalizer

Directed by Antoine Fuqua starring Denzel Washington, Marton Csokas, and Chloe Grace Moretz

Intern Review: The Equalizer is a story of an ex-government worker/assassin/bond type of person who get caught up in affairs that bring back his specific set of skill to exact some revenge. There are good action movies and bad action movies and with the quality of action movies coming out now this one falls pretty far short. The climactic scene is a shootout in a hardware store... Need I say more.

Winner: Zero points on this one it wasn't really that good.

Trailer #2: This Is Where I Leave You

Directed by Shawn Levy starring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne and Corey Stoll

Intern Review: This Is Where I Leave You is a story of a dysfunctional family dealing with the death of their father. They are forced to spend a week together as their fathers dying wish. I believe that this movie was marketed as a comedy but should have been a dramady. I enjoy the serious scenes and the humour that lightened things up with all the adultery and death that is present throughout the movie. I found it easy to connect with Bateman's character and disagree with all of the critics apparently, because I found this movie enjoyable.

Trailer #3: Tusk

Directed by Kevin Smith starring Justin Long, Michael Parks and Haley Joel Osment

Intern Review: A Podcaster Wallace (Long) heads up to Canada to interview a guy who chopped off his own leg. When he finds out the Canadian killed himself before the interview Wallace tries to find another person to interview for his podcast. The person he meets up with turns out to be a serial killer who tries to turn people into walrus'. And this is when Wallace becomes the walrus while the song Tusk is playing in the background. Goo goo g'joob

Winner: Nathan the story of this movie being created over a podcast was more entertaining than the movie.

Trailer #4: The Skeleton Twins

Directed by Craig Johnson starring Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Luke Wilson, and Ty Burrell

Intern Review: There is a lot of suicide talk and attempts with one success in this movie. After a botched attempt that Milo (Hader) has to take his own life his sister Maggie (Wiig) gets the call while in the middle of her own attempt to kill herself. They get together and try to build a relationship after not having seen each other in a decade. It has little humour which might be a blow for the Hader/Wiig fans but they pull off the strange estranged family reunion life journey. Watch out because this movie may make you want to kill yourself. But it was good.

Trailer #5: The Zero Theorem

Directed by Terry Gilliam starring Christoph Waltz, Jucas Hedges, Melanie Thierry, and David Thewlis

Intern Review: A solitary man waits for a phone call to explain the meaning of his life. While waiting he works for 'Management' from home crushing numbers. This is another new world created by Terry Gilliam however it appears to be missing something that his movies normally have. Which is letting your mind go and being taken into his worlds being excited about what might be happening with each new scene. This movie is interesting however not enough that I can recommend it.
